The Old West You're now entering the old west! This is the only area where a specific film is not mentioned by name, but rather, two notable actors are highlighted. The lack of movie title doesn't seem to matter considering that both actors mentioned, John Wayne and Clint Eastwood, have built their careers around playing cowboys and outlaws.
When the tram enters this scene, guests see Clint Eastwood standing in front of a saloon smoking. This scene is likely pulled from one of the films from the “Dollars Trilogy” created by Sergio Leone. In the three films, Eastwood plays a character know as the man with no name, which has become a western film arc type played by other actors since. The three films: “A Fist Full of Dollars,” “A Few More Dollars,” and “The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly” all feature Eastwood as a mysterious stranger that plays the part of an gunslinger, a man that would enter a town and challenge locals in a fight for cash rewards.
On the left side of this scene John Wayne, sits astride his horse while looking into the distance. This scene is taken from his role as Ethan Edwards, from the 1956 epic western “The Searchers”. In the film, Ethan is a loner civil war veteran searching for his abducted niece. Unlike Eastwood's anti-hero persona, Wayne followed a moral code that valued individual freedom above all. The cinematography of the film highlights the large expanse of landscape which is captured in the background art work of the ride. As the cars progress, guests find themselves in the middle of a shoot-out as locals attempt to shoot down a bandit bank robber. Luckily there is a way out of this film genre scene, but it isn't much better than the shootout. Check out the next scene, "Alien" >>
