Lobby and Props The lobby area is one of the elements of The Great Movie Ride that makes this attraction truly unique. The interior of the lobby is designed to look exactly like the interior of the real Gruman's Theatre in Hollywood, with the exception of the furnishing. Inside the lobby is the queue where guests must wait on busy days. Within this lavishly decorated area are some remarkable authentic movie props on display. Taken from the great films themselves, the props are showcased in large glass cases all around the queue area for guests to inspect, admire, and photograph. Items currently displayed in the lobby include the merry-go-round horse from the Disney classic, “Marry Poppins”. Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy's costumes from "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe." Blades and Monkey Heads from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Since this area acts as a memorabilia museum many items are changed out often or sent back to their home museums or collections. Items previously displayed in the lobby include: The holo-chess board used on board the Millennium Falcon in the original "Star Wars."
The Ruby Slippers from "The Wizard of Oz." The dip machine model and bullet case from "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" Props from the movie "Alien." Sam's piano from "Casablanca." A dress worn by Maria in "The Sound of Music." The title object from "Cocoon."

These are the original release trailers that show their age and charm to contrast the audience's more modern sensibilities. As the queue slowly moves forward, guests are led through a set of doors into the sound stage area. ![]() [Photo: Guests watch classic film trailers as they wait in the queue.] In the Great Movie Ride sound stage area, the unveiling of Hollywood is all around us. Exposed cameras, false sets, and tram cars await guests. As the visitors are led to their seats a guide beings to speak about the magic of Hollywood. The area is decorated with various pieces of film sets and equipment. As guests load the tram car they see a large glowing theater marquee that is the portal into the movies. ![]() [Photo: The Great Movie Ride loading area with Hollywood hills set on the left, and faux camera and lighting on the right.
