Alien ![]() [Photo: Original "Alien" movie poster from 1979.] When commercial towing vehicle Nostromo, heading back to Earth, intercepts an S.O.S. signal from a nearby planet, the crew are under obligation to investigate. After a bad landing on the planet, some crew members leave the ship to explore the area. At the same time as they discover a hive colony of some unknown creature, the ship's computer deciphers the message to be a warning, not a call for help. When one of the eggs is disturbed, the crew do not know the danger they are in until it is too late.
This 1979 blockbuster stars Sigourney Weaver as Officer Ellen Ripley, the only surviving crew member. Using only her wits and the scant resources she has, she must make an escape from the ship that is both the key to her survival as well as her prison when she discovers the eggs have hatched into alien creatures.
The scene in The Great Movie ride brings us directly into the Nostromo after the aliens have hatched. The tram passes Ripley, breathing heavily while hiding in a corridor. An on-board computer narrates the scene as the tram slowly passes by. As the tram slowly crawls under an air duct, a monstrous alien ascends from the ceiling in a cloud of steam.
